Capillary Action: Another Cause of Water Ingress in Luminaires
Microscopic gaps exist between the wire insulation and the two-core cable, as well as between the copper strands of the conductors. Under the influence of pressure differentials, moisture can migrate through these gaps via capillary action, ultimately penetrating the luminaire’s interior.
